Lake Lanier, which was Oscarville, GA, and located in Forsyth County, GA, was a predominately thriving Black community that had schools, and churches. In 1912, 2 Black teenagers were accused of rape. The boys were tried, convicted, sentenced to death, and executed. An angry mob of White men terrorized, drove out, and killed the remaining Black residents of Oscarville. In the 1920s, the town was deserted and town into a man-made lake. Oscarville is one of many examples of how Amerikkka has erased Black towns from existence.
